I HEARD THEM!!

Well, the trip to the mountain house on Friday was very nice. Kavan and I were pretty calm the entire way up. I knew what to expect, so wasn't too worried. Kavan was just clueless. I'm happy to say that changing food and not eating any sooner than two hours before leaving prevented the type of accident I had on the way up to our mountain house last time! We stopped at my best friends Jim and Jan's house, they have a big house in the trees with lots of space to explore. I recognized it right off, and Mom and I went exploring with me in my harness. I tried to chase some birds, and saw a squirrel! Kavan just cowered in the garden. The boy is hopeless.

I love our big yard up here, with lizards in the bushes and quail sitting on the fence, and big open space behind the fence. Mom has been letting me explore the back yard without the lead attached to my harness (she is watching closely by). This really lets me check out the bushes! But the quail just taunt me from the fence. We went for a long walk last night, and went into the open space ! It was so cool!

Last night was a cool, wonderful late summer evening so we slept with the windows open. I got to sniff and watch outside. And then, we heard them. CECs!!* I couldn't believe it! Out there in the open space behind our backyard, where I was just a few hours before, yipping and yellowing and HOWLING!! I was brave and stayed right there by the screen door, I wasn't going to let any of them come in! Kavan just kept sleeping next to mom, oblivious. We heard them not once, but THREE TIMES!! This morning, I was really glad Mom was outside with me, and I was not that keen to leave the yard.

Mom forgot to charge the batteries to the flashy box, so unfortunately, there won't be too many pictures this trip.

You are very lucky to have such a huge, beautiful yard at your mountain house! You were very brave to stay by the door with the Cat Eating Coyotes howling, Tara! Impressive!

Tara, I think you are a very good leash-walker. I never go that far on my leash, just wander around a little bit. But you have a great yard for exploring! I am scairt about the CEC's. You were brave not to run and hide under the bed from them.

You are very smart and brave, Tara, to stay by the screen door when you heard the CEC's. You are obviously an experienced mountain-cabin cat.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe

whoa! you're very brave. i'm not sure i could have stayed in the window with CECs howling outside. i'm glad Kavan couldn't hear them cause he was sleeping. he is still a little young to be as brave as you.

That sounds very scary Tara. As you know I am very cautious about going Outside, even in the best of circumstances. I think that CAC's would be enough to keep me inside..

CECs! Stay very close to your mom, Tara, and keep an eye on your little brother. CECs are more vishus than vishus deer.
