The Great Turkey Day Road Trip

I hope every cat had a great Thanksgiving! Sorry I couldn't get around and visit on Turkey day and wish each of you a great day as much as I would have liked, but we had, uh, one of those days...

Mom and Dad spent all morning doing weird stuff, like putting clothes into boxes, weird stuff like that. I knew something was up. Then they left for a few hours with some pies and wine, said they were going to Grandma's house. Ok, no problem, time for a nap. I had been catching a cold, so I needed some down time. Things got really weird when they came back, started putting their boxes of clothes in the back of the green moving box. Then I saw them put our PTUs in the back of the green box, I knew, we were going to the mountain house. I really don't like that drive up, for some reason Mom and Dad can't figure out how to just teleport us up there! Kavan had no clue what was going on, I tried to tell him, but even I couldn't decide if I wanted to go or not.

It started off OK, Mom put our blanket over the back seat, with our two cat beds (the one from Monty and the Millie Bed from Latte). A litter box was on the floor, but it was covered by Mom's fiddle. We each had our harness on. We cried a bit, but settled down pretty quickly. Then it started. Kavan started yaking. Mom had taken our food from us that morning, so it was just yucky looking watery stuff. Mom had her "emergency kit", but it was in the back too. So Dad had to stop so she could get it out. The yak wasn't too bad. We kept going, but Kavan kept trying to tell Mom he was not feeling too well. He yaked some more, Mom cleaned it up. He tried staying on her lap, then said "Mom, I gotta go" and let out a bit fart! Dad said "Did he just fart?" about the same time Kavan went into the back seat into the Millie bed. Mom screamed "Pull over, pull over!" cause Kavan started scratching in the Millie bed, the litter box was buried! Well, too late. So, out came the emergency kit, the bed got cleaned up as best could be done on the side of the road, and both beds were thrown into the back of the box. Fortunately, the blanket on the back seat was OK, except for a little Kavan yak. Mom put the litter box on the back seat.

So we started again. A few minutes down the road, Kavan started yaking in the back seat, and I started yaking in the front seat. Dad just kept driving, Mom just cleaned up the yak. Kavan then went to the litter box, but it was a kitty litter box, so his butt hung over the edge. REAL SMART MOM!! Mom again screamed "Pull over, Pull Over!" Again too late, but fortunately there wasn't really anything left in Kavan at that point, so no real harm done. All of this in the first hour and a half of the of the trip! And two more hours to go! Kavan curled up on Mom's lap, I curled up on my seat between Mom and Dad. I felt so sorry for Kavan I groomed his head. I think that made him feel better. He went to sleep.

A ways down the road, Mom kept getting spots of water on her hand, couldn't figure out where it came from. Then she looked over and could see wet spots on the vinyl around my seat. She accused me of drooling! How dare she! My nose was running, and I couldn't get it to stop, so I shook my head every so often. So the rest of the trip, she wiped my nose every so often, complaining of Tara snot. Fortunately, no more yaks or litter box crises. Were we ever happy to get here! My Gizzy quilt makes me feel a little calmer....

Oh you poor things! That car ride sounds very, very not fun! I hope you have fun at your mountain house. That will make up for it.

Oh, goodness ... Your roadtrip doesn't sound like it was much fun for ANY of you. I hope that your trip back from your mountain house will be less drooly, yacky, an' smelly. Remind your momma NOT to cover up the litterbox.

WOW. That's one crazy trip. It's good you both settled down at some point. Sleeps always help.

We hope your drive back is better, too!

Kavan, I must commend you for all of your pooting, pooping and yakking in the metal monster. That as a trip of Norton proporshuns. Norton could make a
3 hour trip into a 6 hour trip by yakking and pooting and pooping.
Well done!!!

Holy smokes! Sounds like a rough trip. I don't like traveling to much but at least I don't yak and all that stuff.

I am so sorry it was so rough on Kavan and you! I am sending gentle headbutts (even though they are late).

Holy cats! That does not sound like a good car ride at all. It was nice of you to groom Kavan's head. I bet he did feel better. I think he looks up to you.
