Happy Halloween!

Mom's home from Hawaii! More on Hawaii later, but today she stayed home with us, and took us outside. I even got to put on my Halloween costume.

I wanted Mom to dress me up as the top witch, and Kavan as my broom stick. But she never got around to the broom stick part, even though she saw some doll size grass skirts in Hawaii!

Although I may not look too happy, I actually really like the outfit. It is the hat I'm not too fond of. So I made Kavan wear it.

Then I had to clean my furs, which got all mashed from the costume.

I hope all kitties have a safe, INDOOR Halloween! And we are sorry to hear about Mia, our thoughts are with her family. We had not updated our wall of remembrance in a while, so are taking the opportunity to do so now for October. On this All Hallow's Eve, thinking of those at the Bridge.

PS: We DID feel the earthquake! Mom was still in the plane coming home, but Dad and Kavan and I sure felt it. Mom noticed some plaster flakes on the floor when she got home from a crack that opened up wider because of the quake. It was quite a ride!

Cherish Meme for Miss Peach

Mom's been gone to Hawaii, but I told her Miss Peach is feeling poorly, and a Cherish meme is going around just for her. She told me I absolutely had to do it. Kavan, I and Mom are all thinking about Miss Peach and sending her lots of love.

Adan started this Cherish Meme for Miss Peach. Here is what Adan says:
Hey, everyone, this time, I decide to start this cherish meme, here are some ways (depends on which person you write), and bring our love to Miss Peach~! She always makes us know what love is!
1. tell us what is the most sweetest warm thing you will do to your mommy (what is the sweetest thing that your kitty will do to you)
2. And, hug your mommy, tightly… (and, hug your kitty….tightly…)
3. Tag your good friend…
4. Leave your computer, and continuing hug each other…

Mom is in Hawaii, and I miss her very much.

1. The sweetest thing I do with my mom is go for walks with her outside. This is our time together. I rub her legs, she rubs my belly, and we check out the neighborhood. I also love sleeping at the foot of her bed. Kavan likes to snuggle up to her. While she has been gone, we have been giving this love to Dad, who also loves us very much.

2. When she gets home, we both will give her lots and lots of love.

3. We are so lucky to have many good cat blogosphere friends, that we tag all of you who have not played.

We love you Miss Peach.

For Jake and Bathsheba's Mom: Waimea Valley

One thing Jake and Bathsheba's Mom and my mom have in common is their love for native plants. So when Mom heard in Hawaii that Jake and Bathsheba's Mom was having a hard time, she decided to post some pictures she took while visiting Waimea Valley. This is a nature reserve run by the Audobon Society, and is what you think of when you think of the rain forest of Hawaii.

Waimea Valley was carved by rain and wind from the flank of the Ko'olau Mountain range some two million years ago.

At the end of the valley, you can find Waimea Falls. In Hawaiian, Waimea means reddish brown water. This comes from the iron red clay dirt found in the valley.

The Audubon Society was interested in protecting native birds in the area. The common moorhen (Gallinula chloropus sandvicensis), or 'Alae 'Ula, is an endangered wetland bird. Less than 500 of these endangered birds are found on O'ahu and Kaua'i.

Mom took his picture near this lovely lily pond.

Epiphytes are very common here. These two plants are growing on the trees.

Hisbiscus, both native and hybrids, are every where.

It was a wonderful, peaceful, timeless place. A place that reminds you that life goes on, regardless.......

Aloha Mom and Meezer rule

Mom's off to Honolulu, leaving at O-dark thirty with her mom, aunt and uncle. I can't believe she is leaving me with Kavan and Dad for an entire week! And she decided not to enter us in Skeezix's Halloween costume contest, even though I have a great costume! She said it was because she wouldn't be around to help me vote, so it wasn't fair. I think she was just too lazy.

Don't forget about me, I probably won't be visiting much while she is gone.

Meezer Rule: If Mom leaves for an extended period, when she returns, withhold all rubs, purrs and head butts until you get your expected mother-load of presents. Then act like "Of course these are for me", and walk away in a huff. Only later break down and get those week's worth of pets that you really wanted.

Movie Meezer Monday: Going for a ride

He is CRAZY! You would think that after Mom just spent lots of green papers on his tummy, he would be more careful! I'm surprised he is not yaking all over the family room! And then he went back for more!

BROTHERS!

(Yes, that is Mom's obnoxious laugh...)

Sulking Sunday

I'm not a happy camper. Mom's been busy all weekend getting ready to go some place called "Hawaii". I don't understand why she would want to leave, I mean, I'm here, not in Hawaii! And to top it off, she has been too busy to help me blog or visit my blog friends. And even worse, Kavan is back to feeling like his usual irritating self. So I'm not getting the attention I deserve.

She is going with her mom, aunt and uncle on Wednesday for an ENTIRE WEEK! She is leaving us here with Dad, and while we love Dad, he is just not Mom.

Just what is the fascination with humans for wanting to go anyplace other than HOME??? She better get our Halloween costume entry in on time....

Back Home!

After spending all day at the V-E-T, Kavan is back home! While I confess it was nice to have a break from him, I'm glad to see him home in one piece. The V-E-T ran several x-rays and a giardia test and failed to find anything. They stole some of his blood to send off for a full panel, and Mom will get those results tomorrow. After giving the V-E-T lots of green papers, Mom brought him home with some Metranidazole to give him for his squirts. Hopefully, something on that feather just gave him a temporary upset tummy.

Thank you everyone for all your purrs and positive thoughts, they seemed to have done the trick!

There is nothing like sleeping next to Daddy's stinky shoes after a rough day!

Purrs Needed!

Mom is rushing Kavan to the vet today. He ate a big feather from one of the feather toys this past weekend. As the week has progressed, he has been vomiting and developed diarrhea and not eating well. Mom was hoping it would, um, "resolve" itself, but it hasn't. She called the vet this morning, and they want to see him immediately. The good news is he is acting his normal obnoxious self.

Wondering Wednesday and Meezer Rule

Darn Blogger, I can't get my images uploaded! And I so wanted to impressed Tamra! Sigh...she is so pretty, so lovely. Do you think she might like me? Mom says both of us are still a bit young. But I'm close to being a mancat! I mean, I've lost my hoo-haas, isn't that the first step to mancathood? Tara thinks no kitty with Tamra's class would give me the time of day, let alone tolerate my toxic farts. I can't help it! But I have lots of energy like Tamra, maybe if we run fast enough and play hard enough, she won't smell them.

Fat chance Kavan

And I can open cabinets, and do high wire tricks, and get in really high places. Don't you think that might impress a pretty soon-to-be ladycat like Tamra?

I must admit, you would make a nice couple.

Meezer Rule: When trying to impress a pretty young ladycat, you need to have a lot of great mancat skills to overcome toxic farts.

Tummy Tuesday and Another Award!

Kavan is really getting TOO big for his britches. He seems to forget who is the top royal in this household. And you need to have "presence", so a little "heft", ehhum, full figure, gives you stature.

So a leisurely groom reminds him that this is really my back yard. He is, however, a meezer, which gives him some royal blood, even if not the same class as myself. So I'm kind and tolerant. In addition, I must admit he is a blast to play with.

Marie was so kind as to give me this award! Mom does call me sweet all the time, especially when I'm being especially nice to Kavan, even after he has really gotten on my nerves (the boy never slows down)! Although I must admit I've been called aloof and snooty too. The trick is to keep them guessing.
This award has made it around so fast I'm having a hard time coming up with a sweet kitty who hasn't already been nominated! I nominate Gemini, even if she has been nominated already, because she is always so sweet to me!

Meezer Monday: New Scratching Post and an Award!

Our poor scratching post had seen better days. Although we have a bigger, multi-level post up on our balcony, we love this one best. It sits in front of the TV and the slidy door that goes to the outside. I always jump on it to have Mom put my harness on before going outside. Its gone through both mine and Kavan's kittenhoods. So Dad decided he would restore it for us, and make it better than new.

First he had to untwine all the old beat up sisal rope. Of course, we both had to supervise.

I just couldn't stand it, I just had to get some scratching in.....

When it was upside down, I got to scratch on a surface I hadn't seen before! As the main royal in the house, I got to do it, Kavan just got to watch.

Dad decided to get rid of the funky arm things that just got in our way (we used to play with them as kittens, but now we just like the platforms and the scratching post). He also decided the upper platform needed to be stiffer. Kavan just had to copy me, and get some scratching on the upper platform as Dad removed it.

Looks kind of sad all naked, doesn't it? The blue thing is Mom's old SCUBA diving weight belt. If its not on the base, we just knock it over when we get a little, er, rambunctious (and, contrary to what Kavan might say, its NOT because I'm tubby).

Dad spent a zillion hours wrapping the post (well, a few anyway).

Isn't it great? A regal perch, don't you think? Its like a whole new scratching post! Thanks Dad, you are the best!

Another Regal Meezer, His Royal Highness, Yao-lin, gave me this award! Fitting, since I love his blog as well. And after he correctly groveled and apologized for using the term "Tubby Tara" in a comment. Somehow, he forgot I was also a royal. He was properly contrite, so I forgave him. After all, us royals with stinky siblings must stick together!

I pass this onto Latte (even though I think he already received this, I just had to give it to him, his blog will always have a special place in my heart), Honey P. Sunshine, Henry Hilton, and Casey.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Aw, Sunday mornings.....they are great.

This is about as close as Kavan and I come to snuggling.

But let me tell you, he has toxic farts! He finally got past the poo prints through the house stage, but he is constantly letting one out that I got to get away from. And he called me tubby! So I nominate Kavan to Baby Mao's Smelly Cat Club!

Moooommmm, Tara is picking on me!!

Kavan, you deserved it.....

Fearless Friday

We have a cool family room that is open up two stories to this neat balcony where we like to sleep. For some reason this really freaks Mom and Dad out.

But it is such a great view down below. I just wish Mom would dust the rail.

Tara is jealous 'cause she is too tubby to try to jump onto the railing.

Tara is tubby
Tara is tubby.....

I'm listening Kavan.....

Meezer Rule Wednesday

I had to take Kavan out to prove to him the aliens were really gone. I have to admit, however, I enjoyed tagging along on his alien search. I had to inspect all of those cabinets as well, I would hate for my baby brother to get snatched by aliens.

Meezer Rule: Let Mom and Dad believe that your sibling is the only one that can open cabinets. That way, you can review the contents at will, and he gets blamed for it.

PSS: Do you like my new purple harness?

Alien Tracking

I am so relieved Dad is home and the aliens didn't get him! But, being a good mancat in training, I had to make sure the aliens weren't hiding in the house.

Bathroom cabinet? Nope...

Hall closet? Nope....

Kitchen island? Nope. Good thing I've figured out how to open cabinet doors.

Kavan, there are no aliens, the lawn got mowed yesterday...

Oh my gosh, they are in a million pieces! They are multiplying! Agghhhh......

Meezer Monday

Dad made it home safe and sound, we were very happy to see him! Kavan was relieved the aliens didn't get him. However, he is still off searching for them. Me, being the good meezer I am, I'm more interested in these feathers (you may have to biggify the picture to see the hummer). I can manage to get close, but for some reason, I just can't seem to catch him, and I'm pretty fast!

Freaky Friday

These strange creatures showed up in our backyard.

Tara, are they aliens? Do they have Dad, is that why he isn't home?

Better let me check...hmm....looks like a fairy ring...

I better make sure the fairies didn't replace Kavan with an imposter...nope, still as stinky as ever.....
Dad, are you down there????

Wordless (sort of ) Wednesday and Meezer Rule

Dad's gone to New Mexico 'till Saturday, we miss him...

winter is coming, sigh...

Meezer Rule: Even if it is raining, insist on going out of doors. Then act disgusted with the rain, and blame it on your humans. It will make them feel really guilty.

Tummy Tuesday

Tara is teaching me the proper regal meezer pose to be struck when gracing the backyard with my presence.

How am I doing?
Its important to make sure your furs are in good shape. And show a little tummy, especially if it is still creamy white...

Ahh... I'm going to be a mancat someday, and master of this domain!

Don't get too big for your royal britches, pip squeak!
