We finally got a little break in the weather on Monday afternoon. Mom was working at home, so when she was done she took us out. It was great. Our birdfeeder is the neighborhood gathering place for house finches, sparrows, mockingbirds, scrub jays and mourning doves! I want one SOOO bad! I did get to chase a few that were brave enough to try to eat seed off the ground, but they got away....sigh...one of these days.
Meezer Rule: A bird in the paw is always better than two in the bird feeder. But they need to sit still long enough for me to get one!

Tuesday Meme
Our new friends Rossetti and Kirara tagged us for a fun meme. In this meme you have to tell everykitty 3 things that are new with you! Link it back to the kitty who gave it to you and pass it on to 3 more kitties you'd like to know more about! I'll go first:
1. I'm getting much friendlier, especially to Mom and Kavan. Last night both Kavan and I slept at Mom's feet close to each other. I've been sleeping with Mom every night for the last week or two. I'm very much a mommies girl.
2. I'm playing more even when Kavan interrupts, he doesn't bother me as much now. And I just love that red dot!
3. I've been chasing lots of birds around our bird feeder, even though Mom says I don't have a chance at catching one.
Now its MY turn!
1. I'm up to almost 14 pounds! But even though I outweigh Tara, she still has the upper paw.
2. I can open any door in the house, as long as it doesn't have a dead bolt, with a single try. Mom and Dad have just about given up trying to keep me out of anything.
3. I'm better at waiting my turn for a Temptation, rather than trying to steal Tara's.
We tag:
1. Tamra Maew (Kavan insisted....)
2. Queen Snickers and Empress
3. Sultanfus and Guy
Happy Tuesday everykitty!

Relaxing on a Meezer Monday
Its been raining like forever! Both Kavan and I beg Mom to take us out every day, but we usually only make it as far as our covered patio. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I run out into the middle of the back yard, but I don't last long. I don't like getting wet! ITS JUST NOT FAIR! Humpf. We did get to go out a little bit this weekend, but everything was so soggy it just wasn't fun. So we have been just chillin' out. Dad's down to working three days a week, and pretty soon he might be home FOR GOOD! Isn't that great! Mom hopes to go down to three days a week soon. We are so excited! I can finally be waited upon like I deserve!

Not so Tubby Tuesday
Remember when Dad and Kavan were teasing me about being tubby? Look at me now...
Sleek, long lines....
Perfectly proportioned......
Delicately elegant. I was so embarrassed I decided to watch my weight. Mom and Dad had nothing to do with it. Mom says I was still growing and I simply grew into my weight, as my actual weight hasn't changed (its still between 11 and 12 pounds). But actually, I took charge, like any royal would. Kavan looks like a linebacker compared to my elegant stature.
So I am special. And Marie agreed! Isn't this a wonderful award?
I pass this award onto Princess. She was so special to have been there when her brother Caesar went to the bridge. I'm sure it made his trip much easier.

Mancat Monday: Farewell Caesar
One of the hard things about growing up is the eventuality you will lose ones you care about. Even if they have had a long and loving life, it can be very hard. A wonderful mancat to all off us, Caesar, has gone to the bridge. He was an amazing mancat I looked up to and learned alot from. Like...
Sunbeams are wonderful..
You can be a mancat and still be fashionable...
Sometimes the best stuff is at the bottom....
And family is forever. I'll miss you my friend. See you someday at the bridge. Don't worry about Princess, we will all look after her and try to help her feel not so lonely.

Sleepy Sunday Morning
Sometimes I love sleeping on Mom's stinky running clothes. I'm not sure why, but they smell so much like her, its almost as good as sleeping by her on the bed (sorry for the poor picture, Mom's not so good with the flashy box sometimes).
Kavan, on the other hand, loves to sleep on his toys. Sometimes I think he loves his toys more than he loves Mom! Now, don't get me wrong, toys are great, but Mom's the best!
Sorry we haven't been around much, Mom and Dad have been "distracted" with all their big life decision stuff. But it sounds like its going to work out in our favor! More Mom and Dad time, woo hoo!!

Thinking Tuesday and Blogoversary!
Kavan: I can't believe it, I got another award! Stormie gave me this......
Tara: Humph, I can't believe you make anyone think Kavan! I also got this award from my discerning sis Casey.
Hey, I'm the one who figured out how to open the doors and cabinets!
Whatever....anyway, here are the rules:
1. You must write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Acknowledge this post.
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
4. Go tell your humans to fork over the treats!
This is hard, as so many of our dear friends make us think! Also, I know many of them have already received this award, but I think it is an honor to get a repeat nomination. Come on Kavan, we need to decide who to give this to.....
{huddles in corner and confers}
Ok, we decided on:
1. Latte: he is not feeling good, and we are truly thinking about him!
2. Mao and 3. Annie: both have made us think over the past few days about how terrible it is when our friends are missing
4. Tamra Maew: Kavan insisted on this as he thinks about her constantly
5. Tybalt: He is such a good prince mentor for Kavan!
And can you believe, I forgot that yesterday was my one year blogoversary! I can't believe I've been doing this for a year! I have met so many cool cats, and made so many great friends. Thank you all!

Awards and a Sunday Story
Kavan
Oh my gosh! Beautiful, gorgeous, lovely wonderful Tamra Maew gave me an award! I've never been given an award! Isn't it lovely?
This neato award was created by Colin. His site has links to lots of cool bloggers from around the world. I'd like to pass this award on to:
Baby Mao: my partner in poo
Castle: He takes such good care of Storm!
Tara
Camie's Kitties gave this lovely "Life is Hell without Friends" award to Kavan and I. With the missing kitties in the blogosphere right now, it is a bittersweet sentiment.
We have made so many friends in the Cat Blogosphere, it was really hard to decide who to pass this on to. We decided:
Kattonic Cats: We almost seem to be living in a parallel universe!
Pyewacket: Always a good friend
Gemini: Such a wonderful adopted family member!
Latte: My adopted dad, but always my first and best friend!
Now for my story. Mom went out Saturday afternoon for her run. She likes to run along the irrigation canal bank, out by the peach and almond orchards and several nice ranchetts. When she got home I couldn't believe it, she smelled like a goat! I was so incensed, I thought she was out running, but really she was cavorting with a goat! Then she told me this story.
As she was running along the opposite side of the canal from the little ranchetts, she noticed two older ladies who were out walking looking very intently in the corner of the fence that separates two of the ranchetts. She didn't think much of it, people walk on the canal bank all the time. When she turned around and came back, the ladies had continued on. But when she passed the spot, she saw a little black and white goat, either a little baby or a pigmy, she wasn't sure, huddled in the corner. When it saw Mom, it started bleating and bleating. Mom knew it was in the pasture of the ranchette with lots of other goats, so she was pretty sure it had just got separated from the group, and would soon be discovered, so again, she didn't think too much of it. But it was so desperate to get to Mom, it wiggled through the fence, then came running after Mom! Mom was on the opposite side of the irrigation canal, but this time of year it only has a few inches of water in the bottom. The little goat went right down the canal bank then up the other side, and ran to Mom. It was clearly happy to be with her! Mom stopped running and bent down and stoked and talked to the cute, friendly little goat. But now what? There was a little bridge close by so she walked it over to the other side. Then walked it down by its home pasture. Fortunately, she saw someone outside on the far end of the pasture by the house and starting yelling at them. Then she picked up the little goat to show them she had it. Mom held the little goat until the lady got to the fence, so happy to see it! It was a little girl goat they had just got the day before. The lady said it was so people friendly that they kept it inside that night. They were out looking for it, worried that it ran way. Mom was so happy she could hand the lady the sweet little goat. There are coyotes and foxes on that canal bank, so it was not safe. And that little girl goat was not going to let Mom out of her sight! So it all ended well, except Mom sure stunk when she got home!

Thursday 13: Catching Up
We still have lots of catching up to do from our time up at the mountain house, and friends we still haven't visited. So, I'll devote today's Thursday Thirteen to trying to at least partly catch up. Our great friend Georgia (Mickey's pretty sister), tagged me or Kavan for the 7 random facts meme. So, the first 7 of our Thursday Thirteen will be 7 random facts about Kavan. Here are the rules:
1. His name means "the handsome one" in Irish
2. He can open lever type doors
3. He can open most cabinet doors
4. Whapping things off the tables and counters is a favorite past time
5. He had a ruptured ear drum as a kitten due to an ear mite infection and now gets car sick very easily
6. He is a bit cross eyed
7. He loves to sleep on Mom's head
8. This meme has been around a while, so we tag any kitty who still wants to play
9. Another great royal, Yao Lin, bestowed this wonderful award on me
Yao lin created this award for the sole purpose of recognizing those bloggers who are, quite literally, gems! I would like to pass this award onto:
10. Sammy and Miles: two jewels that make me smile every day!
11. The Royal Kitties Queen Snickers and Empress: two elegant kitties getting to like each other, a bit like me and Kavan
12. I want to say I'm honored to have been runner up in The Best Fur Sibling of the Year contest! I must say Kavan has better taste than I expected!
13. Finally, I want to wish Miss Peach a Happy 15th Birthday! Be sure to check out her Tea Party thrown by Karl and Ruis down in Antartica!
Happy Thursday Thirteen everyone!

Meezer Rule Wednesday
I'm sorry Dad, I didn't mean to call you older than dirt. That was not very considerate of me, and I'm ashamed I let my royal countenance slip. It was so totally untrue. You are our knight in shining armor. You tolerated all my drool dripping onto your water bottle, then me shaking it on your steering wheel, my kitty snot clogging up your automatic door opener thingee for the moving green box, my wiping my nose on your pant leg, Kavan crawling onto the floor by the pedals and yaking on your shoes, then cleaning him up in the snow, followed by his projectile yak as he was sitting on Mom's lap, landing on your nice dash board. Only a tolerant, strong Dad could put up with such a trip, and still love us when we got home. I can't wait until you are home with us full time.
Meezer Rule: You need to love your Dad as much as your Mom, and be really nice to both. Yak and snot are a lot to put up with, and you still want your crunchies when you get home.

Tired Tuesday
We made it home, thank goodness. I'm sorry to report the Dramamine made no difference, if anything, both Kavan and I felt worse. Being a royal, I am more able to control myself, but I was a bit more vocal with my displeasure, and I'm ashamed to say I drolled a bit more. Poor Kavan yaked almost the entire trip. Mainly clear stuff (sorry if TMI), but poor Mom and Dad had pretty wet pant legs when they got home! The roads were pretty good, there was only one scary part on a section of highway just recently opened because of avalanche danger. But Dad got us through!
He is the best. And today is Dad's Birthday! Yep, he and the King (that would be Elvis) share a birthday! I'll be discrete and no mention he is older than dirt...but pretty soon he will probably be staying home full time with us! We are so excited. He is so handy to have around, here he is fixing our scratching post.
Yep, he loves us, and takes care of us, and gets us safely to the mountain house and back.

Meezer Mancat Monday: Going Home!
I'm getting to be a BIG mancat! At 10 months, I outweigh Tara by 1/2 pound! (I weigh 11.5 pounds to her 11). So it was important for me to help Mom and Dad get ready to leave the mountain house today.
I know I can get this front door open, pulling down this lever is the key, I do it all the time for the bedroom door.....
Maybe a better angle would work.....
Hmm....there is this pesky bolt thingee keeping the door from opening.....
Sigh, I guess I'll leave that to Mom and Dad. They keep talking about burrito cat and Dramanine, and we got no stinky goodness this morning. I think it is going to be a long trip home. At least the passes are open now and its pretty sunny weather. Wish us luck! We promise to visit everyone once we get back to high-speed internet!

Snowy Saturday!
Look at what we woke up to! This is our back yard!
Our picnic table really shows how much snow fell! Mom had the door open to take these pictures, and I just couldn't stand it, I ran outside! Mom just laughed. I stopped in my tracks it was so cold , but then I decided to explore a bit.....
No lizards now. By the time Mom got her snow boots on to come out and get me, I was at the back door wanting back in. Then both Kavan and I went out to the front porch. At least there was some places with no snow!
I'm not too sure about this....
I think it is time to go back in. It might be pretty, but its way too cold! Hopefully the worst is past and we can get home tomorrow.

Fearful Friday
We are hunkering down! There are THREE big storms heading our way! Mom and Dad are a little worried about getting out on Sunday, so we hope its not too bad. Its hard to believe we might have up to a foot of snow by Saturday, today was almost 60 degrees! But it was really windy. Mom took me out in the back yard, and although it was nice it wasn't so cold, I didn't like the wind much. I chased some leaves, and checked out the wood pile for lizards and chipmunks, then ran to the slidy glass door to be let back in! I hope I get to go out tomorrow...
Mom talked to the V-E-T about giving us Dramamine for the trip home on Sunday. He said there are two references for dosage. One says 12. 5 mg (1/4 of a 50 mg tablet) for an average size cat. The other says 4 to 8 mg of Dramamine per kg body weight. Kavan weighs 11.5 lbs (a little more than 5 kg) and I weigh 11 lbs (5 kg, can you believe he outweighs me now???). So we could each get up to 40 mg! Mom and the V-E-T both decided on 1/2 a tablet for each of us. I've never been given medication, so I'm a little nervous about it. I keep hearing Mom and Dad say something about "burrito" cat. I'm not sure what they mean. Kavan is used to getting meds, although he has never been pilled.
Maybe we will get snowed in and not have to leave.....
