Its been a fun but exhausting weekend. Dad bought a new machine thingy (he called it a combination lathe/mill) and had it delivered Friday night. He had friends come over to help him get it onto the patio both Friday night and Saturday afternoon (temporary until Dad gets a place for it in the garage). Mom let me and Kavan go outside to inspect and visit. We had our harnesses on, but NO LEASH!! I was particularly friendly for some reason Friday night, rubbing against some of Mom and Dad's friends I didn't know, and letting my good bean friend Janet pick me up. We got to go out a lot all weekend. But Kavan kept getting into trouble as usual. On Saturday he climbed the screen door from the OUTSIDE! (this got him put back inside). Then he ruined it for both us Sunday night. We were out in the backyard again without our leash, and Mom and Dad were distracted with this machine thingy, and Kavan jumped up on the fence. I told him not to do that, or we would both get in trouble. Well, needless to say we both got put inside. Yessh. Maybe his hoo-ha-ectomy on Tuesday will slow him down.

Photohunt: Music
As those of you who have read my blog in the past know, Mom and Dad play Irish music. These photos were taken back in March when they were getting ready for a big St. Patrick's day gig. I was a bit younger then, and Kavan was just born and still at the breeders. Here I am sitting in Mom's fiddle case.
Here I'm approving the set list.
Then I had to inspect the mixer.
Here is the group on St. Patrick's day at our local pub.
Mom's playing fiddle, Dad is playing whistle next to the mixer. Both Kavan and I love to listen to them play at home.

Friday Fun with Dad
Dad was putting together a rolling frame for a big tool machine he has on order. I had to supervise. This metal tape thingy was a great toy. I pleaded Dad that I really wanted to play with just him. So he locked Kavan in the laundry room......
We had so much fun!
But Dad just closed the slidy door to the laundry room and Kavan was able to work himself out (I guess he is not that dumb!). D%&n!! Just when it was getting good!
I went over to the stairs and sulked. Plus, Kavan was letting out really stinky farts and I just couldn't take it. He finally started to smell half decent again after he decided he needed to watch Dad take a nature break when we were walking in the woods on the way home from our mountain house, and got peed on (this after he yaked in the PTU). BROTHERS!!!

Thursday 13: Trouble in Paradise
Both Kavan and I had a great time up in our mountain house this past weekend. But I think I had more fun, cause I got to watch Kavan get constantly in trouble. I've listed 13 ways he got in trouble here, which hardly scratches the surface!
1. Sliding across the kitchen table and taking the place mats with him when he is not suppose to be on the table.
2. Camping out in the kitchen sink when he is not suppose to be on the kitchen counters.
3. Whaping a glass full of water off the kitchen counter when Mom and Dad were out for dinner and getting water all over the carpet. Fortunately the glass didn't break.
4. He wasn't so lucky with the candy dish he whaped off the half entry wall when Mom and Dad were again out for dinner. The dish shattered on the entry way tile.
5. Whaping the junk mail off the kitchen counter.
6. Climbing the screen door and punching holes in the screen.
7. Sticking his paw in Dad's eye at 4 am. This got him thrown out of the bedroom.
8. Playing under the air bed mattress (Mom and Dad have it up on a frame and box springs), and putting a pin hole in it with his claws, causing a slow leak.
9. Chewing on the cord to Mom's computer.
10. Whaping Mom's chap stick off the head board to under the bed.
11. Standing on the headboard to reach the shades installed in the decorative window to claw them.
12. Eating the flowers on the kitchen island that he was not suppose to be on.
13. Yaking up in the PTU on the way home.
He just doesn't seem to learn. He gets shot in the face with water, and gives you a look of "What?", and then proceeds to do it again. Hopefully some brain cells will come in as he matures.

We lose another dear one
There are no words to express such a loss as a companion of 17 years. See you at the bridge some day, dear Ayla.
Meezer Rule Wednesday
So, my last lizard hunting adventure in our mountain house back yard wasn't nearly as nice as all the others. When I walked out, it felt like a gust of air kept trying to attack me. It made my fur lay down funny and it felt strange. I tried to out run it, but that didn't work. Then I tried to dig a hole in the sand and hide in it, but that didn't work either. Mom laughed, and told me I was silly that it was just wind. WIND? It felt like something was attacking me! Then I tried to hide under a rabbit brush where the lizards hide. That helped. I went over to my favorite fence and tried to do my patrols up and down it. The fence helped. But finally, I had had enough. I ran over to where Mom was sitting in front of the slidy glass door and demanded to be let in. Then I ran over to the front door. I thought maybe that wind wouldn't be out front. But Mom wouldn't let me test that theory. Humpf.
Our ride home was a little more eventful. First, I could see we were getting ready to leave, and didn't want to, so hid under the bed. But I neglected to get all the way into the middle, so Mom was able to knab me. Then, Kavan yaked up in his PTU (Pet Transporter Unit) about half way home. In his defense, he had cried to Mom and Dad that he wasn't feeling too good, but yet again, they didn't listen. Once Kavan got cleaned up, we got to walk around in the big trees. When it was time to go, I begged not to be put back in the PTU. I promised I would be good. Mom and Dad felt sorry for us, and let us sit in the back seat. We were both very, very good. Kavan and I would trade periodically sitting on the kitty pad between Mom and Dad, sitting in Mom's lap, or being in the back seat. We hardly made a peep, as I told Kavan if we did, it was back into the PTU. Mom and Dad were very proud of us.
Meezer Rule: You can't outrun the wind. You might as well stand and face it. Spitting in it is fun if its in the direction of your brother.

Travelin' Tuesday
Just a quick note to say we are going home from our mountain house today. I'm really really sorry to leave. Mom and I went for a real long walk last night, all the way around the back of our house on the trail through the open space and back. We did the entire loop! I love the big house with lots of space for me and Kavan (and space to get away from him when needed), and that lovely big yard. But especially lots of time with Mom and Dad. I just love it up here, probably more than Kavan. Well, Mom and Dad have to hunt for the green papers to pay for this place. But maybe soon we can move up here permanently. I hear Mom and Dad talk about that. I sure hope it happens.

Magic Meezer Monday
So Dad come out of the garage at our mountain house with this magic potion in his hand. He would open the bottle and put this magic wand in it. Then he would blow, and these amazing clear balls just appeared! They looked like so much fun to play with! But, if you touched them, poof, they would disappear! Sometimes they would land on the carpet and stay for a few seconds. I would sneak quietly up on it and try to bat it, and, poof, it would disappear. Kavan and I sniffed and searched the carpet, for they must have fallen underneath it, we just needed to find the hole they went through. But Dad stopped before we could find the hole. But we must have been getting close, as the carpet was a bit damp, and you know how soil is damp when you dig it. So the hole must have been close!
My new friend Storm gave me a Rockin' Girl Blogger award! I am so proud! Even though I've been nominated in the past, this was special. Storm is a very special meezer, and fighting a tough fight against an awful disease with style, grace, and a sense of humor. I'm very honored to have been given this award by such a special ladycat. Thanks Storm!

Solemn Sunday

Hope is the thing...
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

The Cat Blogosphere spent the 2007 Labor day weekend remembering our lost furriends. Thank you Kashim and Othello for hosting this weekend of silence and remembrance. We have thought again about Baby, the one before me, Mom posted a remembrance on our blog in the past. Our hearts go out to all who have lost a loved family member recently.
I've put together a Cat Blogosphere Wall of Remembrance. Names on the wall came from Jack's Farewell Friends Friday and Sophia's In Memorium postings on the Cat Blogosphere, Kashim and Othello's list, plus anything I picked up in my blogosphere roamings. Like the wall in DC, names are arranged in chronological order when I could figure them out. If you want a name added, or know the month of a name, send me an email at tarameezerATaolDOTcom (replace the AT with @ and DOT with . and squish all together) and I'll update. Panels can be added as needed. Leave a comment of remembrance if you wish.
I HEARD THEM!!
Well, the trip to the mountain house on Friday was very nice. Kavan and I were pretty calm the entire way up. I knew what to expect, so wasn't too worried. Kavan was just clueless. I'm happy to say that changing food and not eating any sooner than two hours before leaving prevented the type of accident I had on the way up to our mountain house last time! We stopped at my best friends Jim and Jan's house, they have a big house in the trees with lots of space to explore. I recognized it right off, and Mom and I went exploring with me in my harness. I tried to chase some birds, and saw a squirrel! Kavan just cowered in the garden. The boy is hopeless.
I love our big yard up here, with lizards in the bushes and quail sitting on the fence, and big open space behind the fence. Mom has been letting me explore the back yard without the lead attached to my harness (she is watching closely by). This really lets me check out the bushes! But the quail just taunt me from the fence. We went for a long walk last night, and went into the open space ! It was so cool!
Last night was a cool, wonderful late summer evening so we slept with the windows open. I got to sniff and watch outside. And then, we heard them. CECs!!* I couldn't believe it! Out there in the open space behind our backyard, where I was just a few hours before, yipping and yellowing and HOWLING!! I was brave and stayed right there by the screen door, I wasn't going to let any of them come in! Kavan just kept sleeping next to mom, oblivious. We heard them not once, but THREE TIMES!! This morning, I was really glad Mom was outside with me, and I was not that keen to leave the yard.
Mom forgot to charge the batteries to the flashy box, so unfortunately, there won't be too many pictures this trip.
