Thursday Thirteen: Mom

I thought since I only get to talk to mom over the phone while she is gone (I don't know how she gets into that little thing, but I hear her in there, and I talk back to her), I'd post 13 quirky or not so quirky things about her.

1. She refuses to cut her long brown hair, even though everyone tells her at 46 she should, and its going gray. I luv to play and snuggle in it.
2. She still thinks she is 21, and plays like it (sometimes), and runs around the house with me, thinking she is a kitty. This give me someone to pounce on! (but then she says she is getting to old for that kind of stuff....)
3. She like working with younger people, cause it feeds her fantasy that she is still 21.
4. She loves it when she gets carded for drinkees, which happens less and less...(I'm not sure what this means, but I'm sure I'd luv to play with the card).
5. She plays fiddle, which gives me a cool case to play in, and I luv listening to her.
6. She luvs helping me with my blog and visiting all my bloggie friends.
7. Both of these help keep her from working too much and not spending time with me!
8. She's an environmental scientist, and works hard to keep my environment safe.
9. She studied a rare plant for her PhD with a common name of large flowered fiddleneck! This was before she started playing the fiddle again!
10. Now she is working on how to restore the environment after a terrorist attack using nasty things she calls WMD (and this is Not William of Mass Destruction), which is why she is in NYC and DC right now.
11. She married Dad and luvs him very much, and has been with him 27 years!
12. And Dad luvs me very much, and takes care of me when she is gone doing her important work, so I'm very glad she married him! (I still think she is hidden in the phone)
13. And finally, she luvs me more than anything! (except maybe Dad).

Thanks for sharing the info about your Mom! I love getting to know my friend's families better. She sounds very important and sounds like she does amazing work! She can hang out with Meowmy any time (of course Meowmy is 25, is that too old since your Mom is 21?)

Yes, we live in NJ but she was probably actually closer to us when she went through 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. We live across the river from Philly.

Our Mom hates the idea of having her long red hair cut too.

Tara, we loved meeting your Mommie! Mine has long brown hair, too. That means she has lots of hair clips for me to bat around the floor. And I like to lay on her hair while she sleeps - it's so much fun when she tries to turn over!

Just because your hair starts to to gray, you don't have to cut it. I still wear mine long and it is mostly gray. Your Mom sounds like a great lady. I'm glad to learn about her. Thanks for dropping by my blog so often. I appreciate it.

Yes, Tara, yoo have a vary pritty and talinted mom. But fiddles make me nervus. Mr TF plays a fiddul thing, but his is called a Vile-in and the stringy things on it are made owt of cat guts, so I steer kleer of that thing!!! The Food Lady has long furs on her hed that she won't cut, but then Mr TF duzn't wunt her to, anyway. So yer mom and the Food Lady can have long hed furs together.

Thanks for sharing some stuff about your mom. She seems very cool, and we like her long hair. She's a couple of years younger than our Mom unless she's really 21 after all.

So, your mom must like plants. Our mom is in the Va. Native Plant Society and she used to be president of the local chapter, but she's no scientist. She and dad created an awesome mostly native plant garden out of our yard. We call it our jungle. (Isn't that what you're trying to do at your mountain house - go natural?)

Our Dad's passion and training is in music. His favorite instrument is the guitar.

P.S. Mom's best friend is a scientist (teaches at GMU) and she has long hair AND she plays the cello.

I think that I'd like to play with long hair, too ... Mom's isn't very long anymore and she keeps changing the color so sometimes I don't recognize her until I smell her perfume. Humans!
