Meezer Monday at the Mountain House

Its been really nice here at our mountain house. Not much snow here, but lots in the mountains when we were coming over. But it has been pretty chilly....

So Mom put on my pretty purple sweater to help break the chill when we went exploring the back yard.

There was a little bit of this funny white stuff Mom called snow, it was cold to my paws and nose....
Then there were these fevers in the tree next door!

Oh how I wanted to get one! Mom said I didn't stand a chance...

I was so touched by Kavan's nomination of me for best fur sibling! While I was honored, it occurred to me I must be slipping a little...it must have been those licks coming over the mountains when he was not feeling so good.....

Sorry we haven't been visiting much, Mom looses patience with the dialup......

And its the last day of 2007! NEW YEARS EVE! Every cat have a great one, and a very Happy New Year!

Best Fur Sibling-Tara, Princess Meezer

I want to nominate my big sister, Tara, Princess Meezer, as the best fur sibling. I know, I know, she can be pretty intolerant and domineering, and lovable is not exactly in her vocabulary, but I tell you, its all an act. Here is why she is the best fur sibling.

When Mom and Dad first brought me home, I was scared, and I was so happy to see another Siamese. It didn’t matter if she didn’t like me at first, she was there, a fur sibling! I love Mom and Dad, but I was so happy I wasn’t going to have to live a life without a fur friend. That would have made me very sad.

I watched her like a hawk. She taught me everything. She taught me to use the scratching post, how much fun running the tube was, and oh, that orange feather fishing pole toy! It was always her favorite. But she always lets me have whatever toy I wanted, even if she was playing with it first. I drag that orange feather toy all around, and sometimes even get Tara to chase it after me!

We love to run and play fight, and chase all through the house. I’m not the only one that starts it, every so often, Tara gets a twinkle in her eye, and the game is on! We box and play fight. Tara is so sweet, she lets me win every so often, even though I know she doesn’t have to.

And she taught me all about going outside, and wearing harnesses and leashes. I don’t like going out as much as she does, I only do it cause her and Mom go out. So often, I stay inside and watch through the window. The true Tara comes out on these walks, she is full of love, rubbing on Mom, begging for pets. I know how much she cherishes this alone time with Mom, and I’m happy she gets to have it. But I’m always really happy when they come back in, as I get really upset when I can’t see Tara or don’t know where she is at. She is my rock.

And she is there for me on those terrible rides in the green moving box up to the mountain house. I get so sick, I just know I’m going to die. This is one of the few times Tara will snuggle with me and groom my furs, trying to make me feel better. I don’t know if I could make those rides without Tara.

Tara makes me brave. Brave enough to walk on the banister two stories up. Brave enough to open all the cabinet doors. Brave enough to twice figure out how to open the bedroom door after Mom threw me out after keeping her awake. She is always encouraging. And although that means I’m usually the one that gets into trouble, that’s OK. Little brothers always get the blame, but big sisters are always there for you. I can’t imagine life without her. Tara, Princess Meezer, is the best fur sibling.

Mountain Misery

Oh, the mountain house! We do love it. But oh, that ride up. And on Christmas Day! That was just cruel and inhumane punishment! It took us a full day to recover, but I still remember that feeling....

Christmas Day

Tara, why are we in this funny moving green box?

We are going to the mountain house Kavan.

I like the mountain house, but ohhhhhh, I'm not feeling so good....

Its the motion, just try to lay down on go to sleep.

But there is so much to see, oh, oh, I need, I need to go....{goes for the litter box in the back seat, but partially misses...}...I'm sorry Mom....

I know sweetie, this isn't bad, I can clean up up right now.

Ohhhh.....I think I'm going to yak..{goes for the litter box again, pretty much makes it this time}

Poor baby, I'm sorry you aren't feeling so good.

Me too Kavan, here, crawl into Mom's lap, and I'll lick your furs.

Ok, thanks Tara....ohhh...I think I'm going to die....

Please, just put me out of my misery....

Ohhh....zzzzzz....droool.....

(30 minutes away from the mountain house) Mom, are we almost there? I'm not feeling so good either...droool....

Hang in there Tara, you have been so good, look, here we are!

Really, Really? Come on Kavan, we are here!

Have I died yet?

Mom here. Poor Kavan gets so car sick (I'm sure its related to his ruptured ear drum when he was a kitten). Within the first hour, he has usually cleaned everything out that might be in his system (and I don't feed them at all for at least 3 hours before we leave), then he just lays on my lap and looks so pathetic, and periodically drools, another sign of motion sickness. By the end of the trip, Tara, who is always so good siting on her seat between Dad and me, was drooling a bit too, so I know she was starting not to feel too good. Has anyone had any experience giving either Benadryl or Dramamine to cats for motion sickness? I've read enough to know its safe, and I will talk to my vet first, but does it work? I've seen some information that says cats don't have the histamine receptors needed for these drugs to work. Any advice welcome. We will be here another 8 or 9 days, so I would like their trip back to be a little smoother.

Meezer Monday: Santa's Helpers

Christmas Eve AND Meezer Monday! How lucky can we get? We had a great time helping Mom wrap all the presents for her seven nieces and nephews. Kavan supervised...

the scotch tape needed inspection....

But the bag full of wrapping bits was just too tempting...

Kavan ended up looking like a Christmas package!

I found a piece of wrapping to role in, a very nice blue..

Two meezers as presents! Mom should consider herself very lucky! I know we are so fortunate this Christmas eve to have such a wonderful forever home. Give your beans some purrs and love tonight!

Friday Fun with Snakes

Tara! Tara! Tara!... {hey, that sounds like a movie}...Come quick! Look what is in our tube!

"Our" tube?

Whatever....but look!

Mom pulled it out of one of her boxes from her internet shopping. What is it???

{I better check this out}....

Wow! Now this is a snake! It's a green Mamba snake! It's not looking too good here....

Don't worry Tara, I'll finish it off..

Don't kill it Kavan, maybe it will take care of that big harry spider in the kitchen that Mom also gets to move by pointing that ball with a long wire at it. Hey, we could have a contest between the two!

stay tuned......

Meezer Rule Wednesday: Boxes

The best thing about Christmas is the boxes! Mom did most of her Christmas shopping on the 'net this year. I don't understand why she is so interested about what is inside, I mean, look at this great box!

And then there is the puffy plastic snake that comes inside some of the boxes. I think its to protect what was inside the box. That is pretty smart, using a snake. I mean, who would want to get inside a box with a snake?

Kavan looked a bit bewildered... I think he is a bit scared of the snake. I told him I would protect him with the scissors.

Meezer Rule: No matter who they are addressed to, all boxes belong to the meezers in the house, and mostly to the oldest and smartest (that would be me), as they don't get scared of what is inside.

Insectology

So, I have to admit to being wrrrr.. eh..wrrrroo....uhm...wrong. Ok, I said it. I told Kavan yesterday the bug he was chasing was a katydid. Here is a blowup of what was outside the window in case you couldn't see it yesterday.

Mom told me this is actually a praying mantid. A very cool insect. It is a predator, and eats all sorts of bugs you don't want in your garden (although it will eat good bugs too). You can actually buy them commercially to put in your yard.

Now, this is a katydid. It really does look like a leaf, and is related to grasshoppers and crickets.

Well, I am still working on my doctorate in meezology, so I guess I better go back and review insectology! I guess I'll go hide in a box, I'm so embarrassed...

Meezer Monday: The Aliens return!

Tara! Come quick! The aliens have returned!

Kavan, that's a katydid. You don't need to worry about it.

But, but, it looks like a walking leaf!

Thats just camouflage so kitties like you won't eat it.

You can eat it?

It probably won't taste very good. Don't worry, its outside, it won't hurt you. (If you biggify the picture above, you can see the Katydid)

Where, where?
{Sigh} I want to go out and play with it....

Its so cold now, its probably gone for the winter.....

Friday Hypnosis

Dad...
Dad.....
DAD!!!!!

Ignore the woman in the background, she is just a distraction. Stare into my eyes. You are getting sleepy. Listen to me. Ignore that bag in your hand, its just BBQ potato chips. Put it down. Now, go to the kitchen cupboard where the Temptations are. Yes, just do it. Do it NOW! You are under my control, and I demand Temptations.

Remember, you need those fingers to dig out those greasy potato chips.

Meezer Rule Wednesday

Kavan

When Mom is not around, its OK to get on all the kitchen counters and kitchen table to make sure everything is on the floor, where it belongs. That way Dad gets his exercise picking the stuff up. Just make sure he is not around to see you do it, or he may chase after you with a feather wand, and the yelling is a little hard on the ears.....

Meezer Monday: Its MY Secret Paws

Taaaarrrra, you have a package!

Maaaaaom, how come I didn't get anything???

Its OK sweetie, maybe Tara will share. Look, some home made nip!

You can have the nip Kavan, you like it so much better than me. Oh look, what a cool mousie, and Temptations and Sheba!

Oh, a mousie? I want to see....

This IS a great mousie!

Brothers! Oh well, look at all of these great treats...

Treats? Treats? Maybe I can get one open....

Maaaaaoooom, make him stop, pleeeeease.....

Its OK sweetie pie, there is enough to share. Look, these all came from Sadie, of Kattonic cats!

Yeah, and she says I can share with Kavan only "IF I WANT TO"!

Thanks Sadie! What a great Secret Paws gift! I helped Mom get mine ready today, hopefully we will get it out tomorrow. And hopefully she can help me catch up on everyone's bloggie. And then she leaves for New Mexico, AGAIN! Thankfully she will only be gone Tuesday night, although it will be late Wednesday when she gets home......

The Sky was Falling!

Mom and Dad came home from work yesterday, and Kavan and I begged Mom to take us outside like we always do. We couldn't understand why she smiled slyly and said "Of course I'll take you out", even though it was cold and dark. I stood very patiently at the slidy glass door for my harness, like a good girl. Kavan squirmed a bit like he always does. She turned the light on the patio, and let us out. We happily ran out, then stopped cold. Water was falling from the sky! I couldn't believe it, I kept running to the edge of the patio, trying to figure out how to get into the back yard. Kavan started yelling at Mom "Make it STOP!". Mom just sipped on her drink and smiled. Finally, I asked to be let back in, and Kavan followed. We were out just a few minutes, but our furs were all messed up! Even my paws were wet! So, I had to take care of that....

Even Kavan decided that water did not suit his furs...

Dad laughed. He said we spent ten times longer cleaning our furs than the time we were outside! He just doesn't understand how important good looking furs are.....

Meezer Rule Wednesday: Mail

Its been so exciting around here. I've been getting mail! Of course, Kavan thinks he is getting it too, he can't believe I've been getting some, so he has to sort through all of Mom's mail.

I got a cute card from Daisy, and a Christmas card from Lilly Lu and Mu Shu as well as Kaze, Latte and Chase! I love Christmas!

Of course, I still have to keep Kavan in his place.

Meezer Rule: Its important to take possession of your mail immediately. While its fine to share with your siblings, they should understand who it really belongs to!

Almost Tummy Tuesday

He might not be the brightest bulb, but I must admit, he is kind of cute. I wonder what he is dreaming of, with that little grin on his face?

Meezer Monday

Dad calls this my princess pose. Fitting isn't it? As royalty, I sit like this a lot. Its nice that Dad knows how to address me. I'm still wondering about Kavan, however. Does he have the brains to be a prince? Just tonight, Mom and I were up on the balcony playing. We both looked down into the family room on Kavan, who was sitting in Mom's chair. I invited him to come up. So you know what he did? He tried to climb up the wall, using the lamp and picture to gain some traction. This did not make Dad happy. Mom and I just laughed. I mean, really, just come up the stairs silly!! Dad had to carry him upstairs to show him the balcony (this is the same one he does the high wire act on the banister) and make him look down on me and Mom. I think I saw some glimmer of recognition after that. Yessh. I think I embarrassed him so much he had to go sulk by Dad's shoes.

Sorry we haven't been around much. Mom's rehearsing for a Celtic Christmas show, and she and Dad have some big decisions in front of them. The kind that determines how the next phase of their life might go. What could be so difficult about that? I mean, of course they will be taking care of Kavan and I. What is to decide?
