Mighty Meezer Monday!

I think all of us kitties have been educated on the dangers of vishus deer, thanks to Rocky, Mao and Skeezix. But I'm here to warn all kitties about an equal danger lurking in the great outside, CECs!!! (Cat-Eating Coyotes!) Mom tells me that although there are vishus deer near our mountain house, they tend to keep their distance (probably cause they know I'm protecting the house). It is true, vishus deer actually kill or harm more beans than CECs. But CECs are a real hazard to us kitties, especially if we go outside alone. The last time I was up at our mountain house, I actually HEARD the kitty-blood curdling scream of a CEC in the open space right behind our house! I hid under the bed. But now that I've gotten older and tougher (hunting spiders and bees and all), I think I could protect our mountain house from CECs. So I've been practicing. This is a stuffed CEC (Mom says its not full size), but I can really take it on. If you biggify the picture, you can see my teeth!

I've really been practicing, cause we are going to our mountain house this coming weekend! Mom says the Monday is Presidents day (is there a Kitties day?), and her and Dad are taking Friday off. I'm so excited! I love our mountain house, and Mom says if the weather is nice, she will take me out in my harness! Then I can really take on the CECs! So, I'm working on getting in shape. Mom put together this little video of me working on my CEC-attack technique. Its not the best quality, because its a lot of little 20 second videos taken from her flashy box that she then stuck together. But it does show me attacking! Note the technique, you really gotta get 'um right at the jugular, and good rabbit kicking is essential.

However, Mom says live CECs are much bigger, and could swallow me in a single gulp! So I need to at least work on ways to protect myself. All kitties, beware! Mom says the best protection is to AVOID CECs at all cost. This is probably good advice, but I want to be doubly prepared.

Soggy Sunday

So, its finally doing what it is suppose to do in California in the winter time, RAIN! Mom took me out for a little while, but it was so wet and soggy, I had to be very careful to pick my path to keep my paws dry. But there were still some bees in the rosemary bush, so I harassed on them for a while (this time I didn't get stung). But then we went inside and cuddled up in front of a fire and napped and read.

We got our pre-ordered copy of WE ARE THE KITTIES! Its the perfect thing to read on a soggy weekend. Its so much fun reading stuff all my blogging kitty friends have written on real paper! Although I keep trying to eat it. We just started it, but looking forward to reading what Sammy and Miles, Skeezix, Sanjee and others have to say...I'm going to learn a lot! There are lessons on how to blog, and everything! And what is really neat is all the royalties go to kitties in need. That really warms me up on a rainy day. You can get it from Amazon, but I think there is only one copy left!

My Valentine to Kimo

Whew! I went right up to the last minute getting my valentine to Kimo posted on Skeezix's VD contest site. I could not have done it without Cecilia and the 2bs!!! They had a friend who had Quicktime Pro and was able to resave it in a .mov file that YouTube recognized (even though it was already a .mov file! I surely don't understand....). She uploaded it to her YouTube account and gave me the link. I'm so furry appreciative I could just lick her face and purr all over her! I thought I'd post it here as well for those who might not make it to Skeezix's site.

UPDATE: Mom didn't realize how easy it was to upgrade Quicktime to Quicktime Pro. She did this weekend, and got a version of the valentine that is closer to the original, and on her YouTube Account!

But we really still appreciate Cecilia and the 2bs for helping us make the deadline!

Furry Frustrated!

I am furry frustrated. Poor Mom has been helping me late into the night the past few nights working on a valentine for Kimo. She doesn't have all the cool software programs to do what I really wanted to do, but we made what I thought was a very nice Powerpoint show. Then Mom recorded herself playing fiddle for the music sound track into her I-Pod (she has an older one with a voice recording function). The plan was to save the Powerpoint as a Quicktime movie with her sound track. We tried this with an MP3 file we had and it worked cool. But we have run into two BIG problems. First, YouTube doesn't recognize the Powerpoint movie as a regular Quicktime move, and we don't have Quicktime Pro to save it as a regular Quicktime movie.

And second, Powerpoint doesn't recognize the wav file the I-POD made. So she recorded herself onto her minidisc recorder (it sounded much better anyway), and was going to make a CD from her stereo system, then rip that as an MP3. But Dad changed all the wiring on the stereo system and it won't work! Mom is in tears.

So I'll probably send Kimo the powerpoint movie without the sound track (it really isn't as nice without it), so at least he can see it. But I guess I can't enter it into Skeezix's contest. And I'm sorry I haven't been around to everyone's blogs...this has been taking so much time! I'm going to go eat some more bugs......

UPDATE: Mom was able to figure out how to convert the wav file to an aiff file, and was able to complete the Powerpoint-derived Quicktime movie. It still won't upload to YouTube. So if you would like me to send it to you so you can see it, leave a comment with your email address. Its about 12MB.

Wordless Wednesday

(I know those buzzy bugs are out there somewhere)

UPDATE FROM YESTERDAY: I'm feeling fine, thanks for all of your concern. My paw swelling is down, and I'm back to my usual run-through-the-house self.

Tough Cat Tuesday

So, Mom stayed home Monday cause she had appointments this morning. But she was suppose to work this afternoon. But it was another nice day, and I begged and begged to go out. So we went out front where the rosemary bush and the buzzy flying bugs were. I just had to chase them! I really attacked them, and got one down onto the ground! I was so tough! But just when I was going in for the kill, it bit me! I shook it, and tried to be bad, but it HURT! So I layed down by Mom and looked at her. She lafed a me! But then she got a little worried, and took me in the house. She got these long tweezy things and some supper strong funny looking eye glasses. I let her put me on her lap and look at my paw, it was so achy! Then, she yanked out this hideous looking thing! But afterward, I wanted to go out again, so again we went out, and I I saw buzzy things! I thought about gettting one, and really showing them who is boss. But Mom wouldn't let me get one, so after patroling the yard, we went back in.

But a little later, I wasn't feeling so good. My left paw started to look a little funny and big.

Instead of playing when Dad got home like a usually do, I decided all I wanted to do was sleep. It remined me of how I felt when I got my last set of kitty shots. But a good nap always does wonders.

Meezer Monday: A Meezer to look up to

I think most of you know I had a major crush on Latte when I first started blogging. In fact, Mom and I read his blog for about 2 months before deciding to jump into the cat blogosphere, and it was through his blog I met all of you! I've gotten a little older and more mature, and our relationship has matured into more of a brotherly/sisterly affection. Even so, he will always have a special place in my heart, so I wrote him a valentine:

A Meezer to look up to

When the leaves were falling
And the wind was wont to blow
My new Mom came and got me
A home to play and grow

She had a meezer years ago
A sealy just like me
But so she thought she should review
The Siamese necessities

So on the internet she went
And searched into the night
To find more information
To help me in my plight

And lots of stuff did she find
On Meezers seal and blue
There was so much, it was so hard,
To know who to listen too

And then one day she stumbled
Onto this interesting blog
Of a darling seal point Latte,
And Chase and Kaze the snuggle hog

Night after night upon Mom’s lap
I’d read about Latte’s days
My heart had such a crush on him
He had such wonderful ways!

I begged and begged for my own blog
I simply had to meet
This gorgeous meezer who just like me
Had eyes so blue and sweet

Mom started me a Catster page
So tentatively I told him
All about my kitty crush
Though I knew that he was taken

He was so kind and generous
And kindly put out his paw
And introduced me to all his friends
And taught me how to blog

And so I got to meet at last
All of these cool kitties,
Skeezix, Luxor, Daisy, Dragonheart and all the rest
And I even like Cheysuli!

And dear Latte it was for you
That I met handsome Kimo
Is he really the one for me?
Only time will show

But oh he seems so smitten
And so my wings to fly
You guided me so gently
To Kimo my heart to try

The kitty blogosphere is here
All great and large and new
But my heart will always hold a place
That will only be for you

I LOVE WEEKENDS!

I just love weekends! The weather has been so nice, Mom takes me out a lot on my harness. Mom likes it cause she can finally get my eyes to look nice! But I like it cause I can do cool things, and today, I got to CLIMB TREES! This was a great way to keep my mind from wandering to handsome Kimo and valentines....

This tree is great cause it is old an twisted, and has places I can get to that Mom can still reach. Birds were right above me. I stared, and stared, and really wanted to catch them!

We went over to the tree in the other corner of the yard, and I just had to try to get those birds, so I got into my best postition.....

but alas, my harness just wouldn't let me go far enough! Mom says both trees are froot trees, but I didn't see any frootbats in them. But I did see one of the neighborhood ferals, and I really wanted to talk to her....

But she wasn't interested. Oh well. I guess I better go study up on the Superbowl...since it sounds like any cat who is a cat will be watching tomorrow.....

Fashion Friday

Here I am posing in my new purple, multicolored shawl. Did you know purple is the color of royalty? So its a fitting shawl for a princess, all I need is a tiara! I'm afraid the light still does not do justice to my pretty blue eyes.....Mom just can't get that right...sigh. Below is a nice side view showing off my svelte figure.

Now, I'm used to wearing my harness, so this wasn't so bad. But Mom promised me temptations if I were a good model. They were a little long in coming, so I had to remind her for them......

Afterwards, Mom took it off and I got to play with it. It has cool velcro straps which stick to everything, and were great fun!
