Terrifying Tuesday

OMGOSH!!! He did it, he really did it! Kavan and I were up on the balcony, and he was being a little crazy and showing off.

"Watch me Tara, Watch!" as he scrambled up on the banister two stories up.

"Careful Kavan, you are going to fall!" as he showed off by making a 360 turn on the banister.

Mom was below in her recliner reading the Cat Blogosphere. She could hear Kavan talking like he always does when he is showing off. She turned her head towards the couch, which is right below the banister where Kavan was (and where Dad usually sits, but he was out with a friend tonight) to tell him to be careful, when....

there was this terrible crashing sound, and then a 15 pound meezer falling through the air feet first at terminal velocity heading straight for the couch! He landed feet first on the couch, bounced off, landed feet first on the floor right in front of Mom, and looked at her with the expression "What?" like nothing extraordinary just happened!

I came running down to make sure he was OK, and he had the gall to pounce on me like it was normal fun!

Mom laughed so hard for so long I thought she was hurting herself, so I jumped up on the arm of the chair, and with a concerned look, stuck my face into her face. This made her laugh even harder!

I finally left in disgust....

Meme-ing on Friday

Ok, so I got tagged by Boy ages ago for the about me meme. I finally got Mom to be my typist (needed due to lack of opposable thumbs). So here it goes:

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?

Although I wasn't born yet, I'm sure I'm a reincarnated princess, no doubt from Siam, so I was probably bossing the servants

2. What are the five things on my list today?

Sleep
Eat
Whack Kavan
Beg to go outside
Whack Kavan

3. Snacks I enjoy

Dairy Temptations
Chicken Temptations
Seafood Temptations (hmm...there is a theme here)

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire

Buy a Temptation Factory
Buy Kavan his own house far away from me
Build our county a new animal shelter (ours is way old, built for about 270 animals but routinely holds almost 500)

5. Three of my bad habits

Trying to eat mom's hair
Sometimes missing the litter box
Jumping on the range top (although I'll probably never do that again)

6. Five places I have lived

My breeder's house
My laundry room nursery when I first came home with Mom and Dad
Our mountain house
Hmmm...that is it

7. Five jobs I have had

Bug hunter
Kavan whapper
Mom supervisor
Bird chaser
Bed warmer

I have no idea who hasn't played this yet, so feel free to jump in!

Kavan's Gotcha Day!

Can you believe I have been suffering with this slip of a fur ball for one whole year??? This is what Kavan looked like when Mom first saw him at the breeders. She was actually looking at two other kitties and he just nosed his way right in...

You would have thought Mom would have known better with such forwardness, but no, she had do chose HIM! This is his first night in his nursery at home...

Its hard to imagine he would amount to anything.

I mean, he had no shame!

And even our first trip to the mountain house, he tried to take over MY chair!

Kavan actually had a pretty rough start. The breeder almost wouldn't let him go home with Mom and Dad as he was sneezing alot. Even once he got home, he went through two rounds of antibiotics while the v-e-t tried to figure out what was wrong. This is Kavan as burrito cat...

Finally the v-e-t noticed Kavan kept tilting his head. So he looked further in his ears, which had already been treated for a bad case of ear mites. He had a ruptured ear drum! The fluid from the ear kept draining to his nose and throat, making him sneeze and cough. Once Kavan got on the right antibiotics to treat this, he (unfortunately for me) was fine! (although all the rounds of antibiotics gave him awful squirts!)

Kavan has always been a Daddy's boy. He loves playing and snuggling with Dad.

Sinks, doors, drawers, cabinets, nothing is safe around Kavan!

But he loves Mom lots too, see him cuddling up to her after she had a bit of a nose procedure...

Maybe he is not so bad. I must admit it is nice not being alone so much anymore.

(Thanks to Zoolatry for the graphic!)

Happy Gotcha Day Kavan, you 15 pounds of meezer mancatliness!

Memorial Monday-Thinking of Friends

Mom had a tough few days at work last Thursday and Friday. Lots of good friends and co-workers lost their jobs. She has been pretty blue since and hasn't helped me blog. So when we were catching up, I was saddened to learn about my crabby friend Bonnie. She taught me how to correctly treat Kavan. I'm going to really miss her. (Thanks Zoolatry for the wonderful graphic)

And I'm very thankful Gree is doing better, and I'm purrin for Mu Shue. I could feel the hugs going around this weekend, even though we didn't really participate. So this Memorial Day, in addition to honoring those that have fought and died for our country, I'm remembering all my cat blogosphere friends, here and at the bridge. And Mom is remembering all the great colleagues she has worked with over the years. Its a day for reflecting on what is important.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful my Mom and Dad love me so much

I'm thankful my paw didn't get burnt any worse than it did

I'm thankful for all my furriends in the Cat Blogosphere for purrin for me and sending me lots of love

I'm thankful for the cool graphic from Zoolatry

I'm limping much less now, and playing a lot more. I'm a bit behind in some posts, and promise to get to the memes I've been tagged for (sorry Boy!).

Tongues on Tuesday

Kavan
Mom, I'd really like a taste of your yogurt

Yes, that is what I'm talking about!

Yumm...this tastes like strawberry!

I love strawberry!
Don't take that spoon away, I still need to do the back! Thanks Mom!

Tara update from Mom: Tara is doing pretty well. She is limping and favoring her left paw more today than yesterday, but very close inspection reveals no outward signs of blister or damage. Tara will even let me and Dad rub and press her paw. But when she walks fast or runs, she is still obviously feeling the burn. But all outward appearances indicates she got really lucky. Thank you every kitty for all of your purrs and concern!

OUCH!!!

UPDATE 6:00 pm PDT 5/18/07: Mom and Dad have been watching me all day, and Dad looked at my paw under his magnifying glasses. My inner paw pad is a bit red, it seems to have taken the brunt of the burn. But it doesn't look too bad, and is not blistering. I'm walking fine, but when I run, I limp a bit. Dad said as long as it keeps looking that good, I don't need to go to the V-E-T! But he reserves the right to change his mind tomorrow.

Thanks for all of your kind words and purrs! They really worked!

Owwww....my left paw (the one on top) is really hurty...I know I shouldn't have jumped up on the smooth top electric range. Mom had yelled at me for doing that before. But I didn't know she had just turned it off after boiling water to make some humming bird food. She was over on the other side of the kitchen watering her plants, when I jumped up on the range, then basically fell off trying to get off it so fast! I ran as fast as I could into the family room, then stopped to lick my paw. Mom ran over and tried to look, but I cried and meowed. So she got a bowl of water and soaked my paw in it, although I wouldn't let her keep it in there too long. Dad picked me up and cuddled me on my back, so both he and Mom could get a better look at my paw. There was no obvious damage, but I was clearly favoring it a bit. But now, some hours later, it doesn't seem to be bothering me too much, although I keep licking it. Mom and Dad are going to watch me closely over the weekend, and if it blisters, Dad will take me to the V-E-T on Monday. So purr for me that I don't need to go!

I don't think I'll be jumping up on the range any time soon.....

Meezer Mancat going Fishing!

I'm really craving some fish! Maybe I should go fishing...do you think the bird bath might have some fish?

I hear Mom and Dad talking about fishing with worms! Hey Mr. Worm, can I go fishing with you?

Mr. Worm, you wiggle real good, I think the fish would like you!

You have a good weight to you as well......

Its OK, Mr. Worm, you can go home. Mom says there are no fish in the bird bath, and I don't know how to drive to get to the lake. So maybe I can talk Mom into opening a can of tuna...
